Welcome to the Dahlgren Lions Club website!
Here you will find information about who we are and what we do as Lions. Our club is a part of the International Association of Lions Clubs, which was formed in 1917 and is the largest service organization in the world. With over 1.4 million members in 185 countries and geographical areas, we are truly an international organization.
Through service projects and fundraisers, our club serves our local community, King George, Virginia, and also our state, national, and international communities. In fact, 100% of the profit from our fundraisers is returned to the community through our service projects.
The Dahlgren Lions Club serves King George County, Virginia. Chartered by Lions International on July 16, 1959, the Club’s lead organizers were Jack Hill, a Past International Director (PID) of Lions International, and Robert A. (Bob) Walters of Dahlgren.
PID Jack Hill approached Bob in April 1958 to organize a club. Bob, being president of the Dahlgren Civic Association felt that he did not have time. In April 1959 Jack came back to Bob and they set out to organize a club. One and one-half hours later they had signed up 25 of the original 26 members who organized and became the Dahlgren Lions Club.
We are men and women with a strong desire to help others. Working together as a club and with Lions around the world, we strive to fulfill our motto of “WE SERVE”.
We hope you will look around the rest of our website, where you will find out more about us and what we do as Lions.
